H&M to open new two-floor Chelmsford store next week

Fashion retailer H&M will open its new store at Chelmsford's High Chelmer Shopping Centre next week, with the opening date now confirmed for Thursday 17 September.

The new store will be spread across two floors at the city-centre shopping centre and will stock womenswear, the retailer's Divided range, menswear and childrenswear.

It will also feature a modern open-plan interior and a number of technological additions designed to make shopping and collecting online orders easier.

New two-floor Chelmsford store

H&M says the new Chelmsford shop will include RFID-enabled checkouts alongside self-service tills and Click & Collect lockers.

RFID technology allows products to be identified electronically, helping retailers keep more accurate track of stock and making it easier to determine whether particular items and sizes are available.

The new store forms part of H&M's continuing presence in Chelmsford, with the retailer currently trading from its existing city-centre premises.

The move to High Chelmer will give the international fashion chain a new two-floor home within one of Chelmsford's main shopping centres.

DJ and giveaways for opening day

H&M and High Chelmer are also planning a series of activities to mark the opening on Thursday 17 September.

A DJ will perform inside the store during launch day.

The first 150 H&M members who make a purchase will also receive an exclusive gift which includes a £20 H&M gift card that can be redeemed against a future purchase either online or in store.

The new shop will be located at 15a Exchange Way in High Chelmer Shopping Centre.

H&M is one of the world's largest fashion retailers, selling clothing and accessories for women, men and children through thousands of stores internationally as well as its online operation.

The opening provides another boost for High Chelmer and gives H&M a substantially refreshed presence in Chelmsford city centre.

Doors will officially open on Thursday 17 September.
