On Friday 30th October, things are getting spooky at Writtle Maize Maze. The family-run farm attraction on Margaretting Road, on the edge of Writtle near Chelmsford, is swapping its daytime maize maze and pumpkin patch for an evening of Halloween thrills with its Spook Night event, running from 8pm to 10pm. Visitors will need to navigate the twists and turns of the corn maze after dark, tackling the usual clue trail and puzzles — only this time by torchlight and with a decidedly spookier atmosphere. Tickets are £13 per person, and pre-booking is strongly recommended as spaces are limited and evening slots tend to sell out quickly. It's a fitting way to close out the season at the maze, which has spent the summer months hosting its sunflower fields and picnic areas before turning its attention to pumpkins and Halloween fun as autumn sets in.
