Ashley Clarke joins Chelmsford City on loan from Woking
Chelmsford City have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Ashley Clarke on loan from Woking.
The 20-year-old forward has joined the Clarets on a short-term deal, with parent club Woking confirming that Clarke will spend the next three months with Mark Cooper's side.
Clarke only joined Woking earlier this summer after leaving Premier League side AFC Bournemouth, and will now get the opportunity to play regular competitive football in the National League South.
Woking said the move will allow the young forward to join Chelmsford's full-time environment as he looks to build his match sharpness.
Clarke adds to Chelmsford's attacking options
The arrival gives City another option in attack as the Clarets continue their 2026/27 campaign.
Clarke was handed the number 17 shirt by Woking for the new season following his summer arrival.
Chelmsford come into the signing on the back of a 1-0 FA Cup victory over Canvey Island on Saturday, when Jack Barham's second-half goal secured City's place in the Third Round Qualifying.
The cup victory also continued an impressive unbeaten competitive start to the season for Mark Cooper's side.
Could make home debut against Horsham
Clarke could now be in contention to make his Chelmsford City debut when the Clarets return to action against Horsham at the Dunmow Group Community Stadium on Saturday, September 26.
Kick-off is at 3pm.
Chelmsford City officially announced Clarke's arrival on Tuesday, September 22, while Woking confirmed that the loan is intended to give the forward regular competitive action during his three-month spell in Essex.
The move gives Clarke an opportunity to pick up valuable first-team minutes while adding another young attacking player to Cooper's squad.
