Bond Street Chelmsford celebrates 10th birthday with free family event today
Chelmsford's Bond Street is celebrating its 10th birthday today with a day of free live music, street entertainment and family activities.
The birthday celebrations take place on Saturday, September 26 from 10am until 5pm, with entertainment planned throughout Bond Street.
Entry is free, making the event an option for families looking for something to do in Chelmsford today.
Live music and street entertainment
Live music will take place in The Bowl, with Louise Parker, Greene and Rachel Brooks appearing on the Main Stage alongside young performers from Razzamataz Theatre Schools.
Main Stage entertainment runs from 11am until 4.30pm.
Visitors can also look out for the No Limit Street Band, circus stilt walkers and Dress Circle's travelling theatre performing around Bond Street during the day.
Free children's activities
A range of free family activities begins from 10am.
These include carnival games, face painting, arts and crafts and candyfloss.
Arts and crafts will be available until 12.30pm, while face painting and candyfloss continue until 4pm.
The face-painting queue will close at 3.30pm and carnival games will continue until 5pm.
Birthday prize draw
A special free birthday prize draw is also taking place.
Adults attending the celebrations can enter at participating Bond Street venues for the chance to win prizes including cookery classes, a Magic Potion class and a £60 Bravissimo voucher.
Visitors can enter by finding the prize-draw posters at participating venues and scanning the QR code.
Entries are open between 10am and 6.30pm, with winners due to be contacted on Monday, September 28.
No purchase is necessary to enter.
Tastings and special offers
A number of Bond Street businesses are also getting involved in the celebrations.
Visitors can expect special activities and offers including tastings at Hotel Chocolat, samples from Giggling Squid and Bubbling Burkes, and activities at Tiptree Tea Rooms.
John Lewis is also joining the celebrations with a live DJ set, beauty activities and birthday cake available with qualifying purchases while stocks last.
