Chelmsford charity fun walk to raise money for adults with learning disabilities

Walkers will take to the streets of Chelmsford on Sunday to raise money for a local charity supporting adults with learning disabilities.

Grapevine Essex is holding its Charity Fun Walk on Sunday 13 September, with members, their families and supporters invited to join a sponsored walk from Broomfield to Springfield and back again.

The event forms part of the annual Fun Walk organised by The Fun Walk Trust, which sees charities and community organisations holding their own fundraising events during September.

Walk from Broomfield to Springfield

Participants will meet at the bottom of Seventh Avenue in Broomfield at 11am before setting off towards Springfield.

The group is expected to reach the Tulip pub at around 12.30pm, where walkers will have an opportunity to stop for lunch.

A buffet has been organised at a cost of £8 per person.

Walkers will then make the return journey to Broomfield, arriving back at the bottom of Seventh Avenue at approximately 2.30pm.

Everyone is welcome to take part.

Supporting adults with learning disabilities

All money raised through the sponsored walk will go directly to Grapevine Essex.

The charity provides supported recreational and educational activities for adults with learning disabilities living across Essex.

Its programme is designed to help members build confidence, develop life skills and friendships, support independent living and improve employment opportunities.

Grapevine Essex also organises fully supported outings and activities, providing opportunities for members to socialise and enjoy new experiences while offering valuable respite for parents and carers.

People who would like to take part in Sunday's walk and collect sponsorship can contact Grapevine Essex for a sponsorship form.

Those unable to join the walk can also support the event by making a donation to the charity's online fundraising campaign.

With the walk taking place tomorrow, organisers will be hoping for plenty of support as members, families and friends make the journey from Broomfield to Springfield — and back again — to raise money for a Chelmsford charity helping adults with learning disabilities live active and fulfilling lives.
